Physio / Administrator volunteer wanted... should be interested in Cambodia and diasbility rehab.

This is not a job advertisement. However FIRST-Rose in Cambodia is upgrading its physio-therapy facilities. Joanna Thomson (Perth) is there now but needs some assistance. Realistically there will be as much administration as teaching. There is a distinct leaning curve associated with getting functional in Cambodia - in some ways not dissimilar to some other developing countries, but in others, very different. Realistically we need someone who is personally very interested in that country or the area, knows it,  and simply wants to do it to enrich their and the lives of others.   Pay.. none.  Expenses... almost none. Airflight.. probably an airmiles ticket. Accom...yes but in a fairly basic guesthouse.  Will  you end up out of pocket at all.... undoubtably yes... !  Will you be an official Rose Charities worker.. no.. we don't have such.  Hot, tiring and energy draining.. yes.  You need to be able to see a glass half empty, and always see it as half full. You need to be able to get on with people. You need to know how to communicate.  You need to want to retain a relationship with the project into the future; maintain a sense of some ownership and help us develop further plans. You need to be able to track expenses (ie exceedingly basic accounting) and know one end of a computer from another.  Of all the above, patience, energy, affability and communication skills and dedication are the most important. Quite a tall order !  Not expecting many (?any) answers !

Unique humanitarian Emergencies Course with Child and Family focus: June 2010

This unique Case Western Reserve University short course has been largely designed by Dr Karen Olness of Health Frontiers (a close Rose Charities partner in Haiti relief work). It is unique in that very few courses of in the area focus specifically on the child.  We recommend it very highly.  I is also endorsed by the International Pediatrics Association.   Register online at   http://casemed.case.edu/cme
